Free Fronts - George IV, Queen Victoria
For many years, members of Parliament from both houses were able to post letters without charges. Each letter carried the members signature on the front with a ‘free’ mark.This system was abolished in January 1840 after much abuse. Thereafter, members had to obtain specially printed envelopes available only from parliament.1810 - 1839 autographed free fronts each £2.95 per 5 different MPs £12.50
